IVT provides a powerful and easy-to-use eLearning platform for secondary education. In the last six years, IVT has developed the iStudy LMS, iStudy Live, and iStudy Web suite of eLearning products. The core of the Academic suite is the iStudy LMS, the course management system for the virtual classroom and online educational student support services.

The technology infrastructure encompasses four main areas: The student management system, the learning management system, technical support, and the physical set-up required for teachers to do their jobs.

The student management system is the core and most critical component of these four areas because it houses all the data that allows schools to know whether or not they are reaching and succeeding with students. Because there are so many data-related tasks that are unique to the virtual school world, we ended up building our own proprietary student management system. It allows us to interface with students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors, principals, and district personnel virtually. It allows for rolling enrollment, and it provides ways for teachers to track students who are proceeding at many different paces through the courses. It also provides mechanisms whereby schools can observe, evaluate, and support the instructional staff.
